[5th Gen : 08+]: Serpentine Belt Squeal
I have a 2012 dodge grand caravan SXT, 3.6, 145,000 miles. Starting last summer I had an intermittent squeak at idle when rainy\wet. I replaced the belt in September and the noise went away for a few months but it started coming back around Christmas. Recently it has become more frequent - almost always when we first start it, slightly exaggerated when rpm's increase, sometimes goes away at idle. I've replaced both idler pulleys(recently), and the alternator was replaced a couple years ago the noise appears to be caused on the grooved side not the smooth side based on spraying water\wd-40 on the belt. Due to it being groove side that eliminates water pump. None of the drive\driven pulley show obvious signs of resistance or misalignment and I'm having a hard time identifying the specific source of the noise. I think it may be coming from the power steering pulley but i'm certainly not positive. Also changing the load on the accessories doesn't impact the noise(turning the wheel, turning on the lights, turning defrost\AC on\off)… If I had any hair left i'd be pulling it out. Any similar problems\experiences? Advice\ideas greatly appreciated.
