Default Custom air intake

I like to hear the engine in anything I drive so I always go with a short ram intake. And I'm cheap. So here is a $6 piece of drain pipe from the hardware store attached to a cone filter good for ~450CFM that I had from my previous vehicle, and a box that was a kitty litter jug. The sound of the engine is at the end of the video. The stock filter is 31sq in good for only 180CFM when 3.6L with 6500RPM redline needs 325CFM, used calculations from https://itstillruns.com/calculate-en...e-6393767.html. The engine gets up a lot faster and climbs hills at 70mph without needing to downshift.

I did a quarter mile and 0-60mph run with my OBDII and AZRecorder for Android so you can hear the engine growl and see what difference it made. According to stock data the 0-60 didn't change which is fine, my goal is to hear my engine.

This was a fun experiment but running the A/C kicks on the cooling fan, that pushes hot air around the sides of the box I had built, and the timing of the engine changes to compensate thus the van loses the benefits gained by the extra filter area. I don't care enough to build a box right now so I put back on the stock box and filter. The van has lots of power despite the poorly engineered air filter size to engine displacement ratio.
