My dash gauges start out normal nearly every drive, then they stop moving while accelerating, delay a bit then start working again. Both the tach and speedometer do this. I've swapped out the cluster, would the PCM do this? the gear selector indicator will also delay to show the proper gear, sometimes several seconds.
