Default Gas cap colour???

At a full-service gas station (remember those??) last week a 'trainee' almost put diesel fuel in my 2010 Grand Caravan .....you know why?? Because it has a YELLOW gas cap!! What was Chrysler Corp thinking when they did that? ....don't they know that yellow is the universal fuel symbol for diesel fuel? ...yellow fuel containers, etc. Can anyone explain the 'logic' behind the yellow gas cap? Anyone else had a 'near catastrophic' diesel incident?

Yellow, means it can take E85. How did he put diesel in you Carava?. The nozzles on the Diesel pumps are larger and are designed not to fit in a gasoline vehicle.

what he said.

never seen it happen due to the larger diesel nozzle.... unless the tanker truck fills into the wrong station tank.

gas in a diesel will damage stuff...diesel in a gas engine; not that bad, other than the inconvenience; drain the tank and your good

As my original post said: "almost put diesel fuel in my 2010 Grand Caravan" .....note the word 'almost'. It was only because he couldn't figure out why the nozzle wouldn't fit that he didn't get any further than 'almost'.
So ...why the confusion with the colours? Have they changed the colour that indicates 'diesel'?

Not saying I’ve never seen it, but all the diesels I can recall have had green fuel caps, not yellow. Unless that’s the difference between a cap on a truck and a cap on a car.
