Question How to separate A/C oil cooler from radiator???

I'm replacing a leaky radiator on a 2006 GC with a 3.8L engine. I've got the fans off, the crossbar on top off, disconnected the two radiator hoses, and lifted the A/C oil cooler off the mount on the driver side. There is nothing holding the radiator in EXCEPT there is something that is catching A/C oil cooler on the passenger side. I've gently bent two of the A/C oil cooler lines on that side to give more room, but I just can't tell where it is catching. I've been going at this for an hour, and I'm about to remove the front grill/bumper so I can see WTH is catching the A/C oil cooler. Please, someone save me from having to do that!

You must mean the condenser?

Either way, the bottom end has an ear or tab on it that fits into a hook on the radiator. Usually there is a release tab above the hook that has to be depressed before the condenser can be removed from the hook.

You might have to remove the grill to access it - try looking at it from underneath if you can’t see anything from above.

Thank you for your reply!

If you're talking about the thing that sits in front of the radiator, yes. I've heard it referred to as the A/C oil cooler. Is that something different?

I forgot to mention in my OP that I got the condenser off the two hooks near the top on both sides.

In any case, I finally got the radiator out and the new (salvage) unit in. I had to enlist my eldest son to assist and get his eyes on where it was hanging up. i ended up bending the condenser lines a bit more so that we could finally get enough clearance to pull the radiator out. I was really worried about turning the A/C into a FUBAR mess. Hooked up the radiator hoses, did an initial fill, and ran out of daylight, so I'll see in the morning whether there are any leaks with the new unit.

I’ve never heard the term AC oil cooler before, however, it’s common for the condenser to have an integrated transmission oil cooler, so I can see where someone could call it that.
