[5th Gen : 08+]: 2016 GC with 3.6l has a tick in the engine
My 2016 GC with the 3.6l has a tick in the engine, have been told this is common in the Dodges, after a lil checking on YouTube it seems it may be a lifter bearing? Anyone else have a similar issue?
Apparently some people have experienced some issues with a ticking sound coming from their 3.6 L pentastar engine. The culprit part is the rocker arm bearing wearing out and causing a flat spot if ignored and not changed out promptly it could gouged the cam lobe then depending how bad the camshaft might have to be replaced. Now to say it's a common problem with this engine I believe it has more to do with what brand of oil is being used in the engine. High quality oil which meet MS-6395 specs with high scores on anti-wear properties is key to keeping your engine free of trouble. I bought my GC dealer demo late 2013 used nothing else than Castrol Edge 5w-20 full synthetic since I got the van 6 years ago now it has 201750 km or 125362 miles never had an issue with ticking rocker in my engine. I doubt my engine was made any differently than any other 3.6 L I change my oil at every oil life indicator message which usually 11k-12k kilometers. The reason I use Castrol Edge is because it scores as one of the best oil off the shelf where you can buy it practically everywhere. The results is not by popularity but by data results done by testing virgin oil samples done by an independent lab.
2016 GC Dodge Powertrain Warranty is 5 year 100,000 miles depending on your mileage it should be covered on warranty.
