I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan, 2.4lL engine. Yesterday when I switched my air condition on the engine started running rough, bogged down and died. My engine will run with the ac off, but dies ever time I turn on the ac. I could smell burning rubber. The ac belt was very worn so I removed it, thinking it might just be a frozen compressor. But even without the ac belt, turning the ac on causes the engine to run rough and die. Not sure why this would happen even with the belt off. I need some advice as to what I should check and do to fix this problem. Thank you.
