Default Key Fob Programming

I have purchased two new key fobs. I have as of yet been unable to program them.

I have two working key fobs. However, following the instructions for two keys, I am unable to get the vehicle to go into programming mode (step 6). Below are the steps that I used:
  1. INSERT the first working FOBIK remote key into Ignition.
  2. TURN Ignition to the ON position for at least three (3) to fifteen (15) seconds.
  3. TURN Ignition to the OFF position and REMOVE key.
  4. WITHIN fifteen (15) seconds, INSERT second working FOBIK remote key into Ignition.
  5. TURN Ignition to the ON position.
  6. After ten (10) seconds a chime will sound and the Immobilizer Warning Lamp will flash indicating entry into Programming Mode.
  7. TURN Ignition OFF and REMOVE second working FOBIK remote key.
  8. WITHIN 60 seconds INSERT NEW FOBIK remote key into Ignition.
  9. TURN Ignition to the ON position.
  10. After ten (10) seconds a chime will sound and the Immobilizer Warning Lamp will flash indicating successful programming of that remote.
  11. TURN Ignition to the OFF position and REMOVE key.
  12. REPEAT Steps 8-11 for any additional FOBIK remote keys to be programmed to your Vehicle.
  13. Test all remotes. Programming is now complete. The remote and key are now both programmed.
  14. If these programming instructions helped save you time and money, please consider sharing our website with friends and family so they can do the same.

I have a additionally tried the one fob method below without luck:
Programming The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Module
1. Unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft Security System.
2. Insert ignition key into the ignition switch.
3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position without starting the engine.
4. Using a functional key fob transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button for a minimum five seconds (maximum ten seconds).
5. While still holding the UNLOCK button, and before ten seconds passes, press the PANIC button and release both at the same time. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module is set to receive the new Vehicle Access Code(s).
6. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the transmitter at the same time. Then press and release any one of the buttons. The BCM will sound an abbreviated chime to acknowledge that the programming of the transmitter has been completed and was successful.
7. Repeat step 6 for all transmitters that will be used with this vehicle, up to 4 total.
8. Programming mode will last for 30 seconds. To get out of programming mode sooner, turn the ignition OFF. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module will no longer accept additional Vehicle Access Code(s).
9. When Vehicle Access Code(s) programming is complete, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and verify RKE system operation using each key fob.

What is my next step?

What year is your van?

The later year vans cannot be self programmed, I believe after 2010.

And if you have one of the vans that was programmable but had the WIN module (ignition switch) replaced under a safety recall, chances are you lost the ability to program new keys after the recall was performed (that happened with my 2009).

Mine is a 2010. I purchased it in 2015. I never had the ignition module changed, but it could have happened prior to me getting it.

That leaves you with three options:

1. Have a dealer program the Fobiks.

2. Have a locksmith program the Fobiks.

And if you are a do it yourself type and are computer literate:
3. If you have a Windows computer you can buy an ELM327 compatible OBDII interface and Appcar DiagFCA software (you will need the latest beta version), they will allow you to program your new Fobiks.

I used method 3 after the WIN module recall removed my ability to self program new Fobiks.

I don't know how much a dealer or locksmith would charge but Appcar DiagFCA is $49 and a really good OBDII interface like OBDLink MX+ is $80.

And if you are the DIY type, the OBDlink MX+ and it's software, in combination with Appcar DiagFCA software, make for excellent diagnostic tools.
