Default 2002 dodge caravan, 3.3, v6. On idle or driving get surges, thrusts, pauses, etc

This Van has low miles low mileage. Now it has 95,269 miles. When I bought it on about 6/28/14 it had 78,349 miles.

It's beyond me. Ran fine but never had plugs changed, so I told myself lets keep it tuned up & running spiffy for a lot more years.

I put in new plugs & plug wires. The firing order is correct. But still, when at an idle or when driving, it e.g.surges, sputters, lunges, pauses, hesitates and trusts on & off, on & off, on & off ..... . all these words are descriptive of the single best description of surge and surges. The RPM gauge likewise surges on up & down.

I am at a total loss guy's. Anybody got any good ideas of what causes this & a fix. Sure would appreciate your accurate effective help. Jim

Maybe when you put things back together you didn't tighten down something tight enough, or have a disconnected vacuum hose. Kind of sounds like a vacuum leak. Also, did you check the gap on the spark plugs? Make sure you purchased the right plugs? Too much dielectric grease on the spark plug boots? If you bought your plugs through amazon, they could be knockoffs, or defective because of shipping and mishandling. Just throwing out ideas.

Good thinking on the right plugs. I got plugs that were supposed to work for this rig, but it appears the plugs must be the exact ones required. In other words, If I got autolight plugs but ac-Delco was the required plug, then I could have these surge-missing symptoms. That sound right to you, or anybody else? Jim

SOLVED! I used autolights which were the wrong brand & number. A champion number was specified on a label under the hood per the new car manual.
