Default Subwoofer in sides of console

Howdy everyone. I want to know if anyone has had the console apart and if they know how much space is in there behind the HVAC controls and radio. I want to put an amp and subs pointing into the foot wells. BECAUSE AMERICA!!!!

I haven’t had the dash on a GC apart but I have had the dash on a Ram and a couple Chevy’s apart - they’re pretty tight. Behind the radio and HVAC controls especially as they’re less than 1/2” from the HVAC housing.

It could most likely be done with some smaller subs - like you’d see mounted in the windshield pillar trim (or in those sandwich commercials ) - but don’t get your hopes up for anything larger. Try removing the glove box for a look at what kind of space you have.

That said, if you have a center console, you might be able to mount a couple of 6” subs on either side, in that pocket where the console and the dash meet. You’d still want access to the jack screw for the spare tire though.

Edit: I just re-read your post and now I’m not sure if you meant the dash. The phrase “behind the HVAC controls and radio” made me think dash but you said console... I think I’ll just go to bed now.

if you're driving the van I'm talking about the space next to your right foot. On some of the vehicles I worked on in the past that plastic area is Hollow. On my 2015 Nissan Altima there was a filter box up in there for the cabin air filter. Put on some cooler looking cars they give you storage space back there near the firewall where your feet go.
