[5th Gen : 08+]: Is Trailer Sway Control an Added Feature?
Looking to buy a 2016 SE Plus Grand Caravan, and use it for camping now, and in the future hauling a light travel trailer. One I'm looking at says "Towing Equipment -inc: Trailer Sway Control, Touring suspension, Torsion Beam Rear Suspension w/Coil Springs". Are those things that are standard, or are they add-on features that will actually help me when I start towing? Thanks in advance. FYI, I like the SE because it does not have any console between the front seats, making it possible to shuffle one's feet thru and going more easily from the front seat to the rear.
If the van is being listed as having a tow package with sway control, it would’ve been an option that was added by the original purchaser. You can verify what it’s equipped with by asking the seller to provide a build sheet - available from Dodge using the VIN.
I have a 2016 RT without any tow provisions, so if I wanted to tow, I’d have to install the hitch, wiring, and controller. If I wanted factory sway control, the module would need to be installed and programmed.
