Default Lousy seat welds, fatties beware! Instructions on getting the driver seat out.

The front right weld of my driver's seat snapped. Judging by the welds on the other three connection points they really put a paper-thin half-*** weld on this. This is only the second time I've used a welder so these are fat and ugly welds but at least when I was done this weld will last more than 60,000 miles of my fat *** sitting in the seat. It's really sad that the pathetic weld they put on there couldn't outlast the springiness of the foam cushion. So if like me your little more than the seat can handle you might take it to a shop and have them put a bit more weld on it.

Some notes about the job if you unplug the two plugs on the floor and then pry them up with a body panel bolt pry tool then you won't have to mess with the other plugs until you have the seat out of the van BUT do not unplug these plugs until you have all four bolts out that hold the seat down because you have to use the electric to move the seat back and forth to get at the bolts. I put this first just as a heads up of don't start unplugging ****. I had a migraine when I did the job and unplugged all the plugs and when I put them back I put them in the wrong places and now the controls do different things. There are four points where you have to unbolt the seat from a little frame that is permanently part of the van floor. You have to move the seat all the way back to get at the front two corners. The two front Corners are a 15 mm socket to take off the nuts nearest the floor. The nuts are on a bolt that is a female Torx but it felt like it would strip if I tried to turn that Bolt and the nuts are easier to get at. You will have to move the seat forward to get at the back corners. The back two corners are a large female Torx socket, I will update this post with what size when I get back to the task. The migraine put me back in bed so I won't be finishing it anytime soon. Now you may unplug the two plugs and take the seat out of the van.

The top picture shows what is permanently part of the floor and also you can see the pride tool I referenced in that picture. And that my van is utterly trashed because, you know, kids! So the bolts that you'll deal with are in the four corners of the piece you see in the picture.

50w male Torx to get the seat belt off the seat.
15 mm for the nuts and the bottom of the front two corners the bolt going down to the nut is a 40w but again I did need it because the nuts came off easily.
The rear corners of the seat come off with a female e16 Torx bit.

The plastic panel on the left side of the driver seat had a bolt in it that came out with a 1/8 inch allen wrench. Recommend it as a drill bit because it was tedious as hell to get to with a tiny allen wrench. Edit: so I don't have a 1/18 that my drill could use but a male Torx T20 works just fine because it doesn't have to be very tight and there is no risk of stripping your bit.

Under the power seat is wiring for the various seat control motors are front left is orange, front right is red, rear right is green. I did need the mess with any of the plugs that went up in the back of the seat so I don't know about those. There is another plug attached to the bottom of the seat that just goes to a box and it doesn't appear to connect to any motors. All the other plugs but the three color coded wires I mentioned are distinct and you couldn't mistake them. The color coded electrical tape on these three wires I mentioned are the same on my 2018 and my wife 2013 so probably consistent all the way back through 2008.
