I bought a rebuilt 2014 Grand Caravan that had front end damage. I've had the vehicle since Jan this year. I drove 3500km from Edmonton to Toronto with no problems, but when I was stuck in Toronto traffic yesterday my engine overheated in the 35C + temps outside. I noticed the Rad fan wasn't coming on anymore and the coolant red light was flashing. I was driving overheated for 20 min (stuck in traffic, sucks!). Anyway, I checked the fan relay resistor and the green insulation was worn-out so I replaced it but it didn't solve the issue. I also switched the low speed relay in the fuse box, again no luck. The there's no coolant leaks and the oil looks normal, nothing frothy and the engine ain't blowing white smoke. The coolant reservoir went really low a few times and I put a jug worth of coolant as when I went to park, the coolant was pouring out all over the place really fast... I refilled the reservoir and ran the car again to high temp and didn't see any leaks. Although I didn't see the level in the reservoir change when the coolant temperature went halfway up. The upper rad Hose and lines to the upper rad were hot too.
Not sure what could be causing it? Fan resistor relay replaced This is on the driver side front behind the rad fan. There's 2 large relays there, not sure if one of them is for the fan???
