Keep pulling code 601 from my sisters 2001 Dodge Caravan Sport. All OBDII List keep telling me is that a computer controller failure. Does this mean the computer has failed???. If so, how many hundreds of dollars could this cost her / me?

Spent 2 hours now searching the web for info on code 601's and it seems as if very few have experienced this. I am afraid to clear code as I wonder if my problem is not more related to drive time/cycle as apposed to actual computer errorr.

Please help as I sure find it hard to believe thier are no other options.

 

A new PCM will cost you between 3 to 5 hundred dollars.
And what's the van doing? Is it running?

 

Its running fine. Check engine light stays on

 

A p0601 is a internal failure in the pcm. The code will not clear and the only fix is to replace the pcm.

 

Its probably still under warranty, covered under the 8 years, 80000 mile federal emission warranty
