[4th Gen : 01-07]: Poor highway acceleration
2003 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L
Van runs good without any shifting problems. The transmission was changed out about 5 years ago, and the entire exhaust was replaced 3 years ago. From a dead stop, the acceleration is fast. But once I get on the highway I have extremely poor acceleration. If I push the gas pedal down to make the trans shift to get more power, the van just crawls past slower drivers. I was told it was a bad torque converter. I'm looking for more options before dropping the transmission.
This explains my problem: "if the stator’s one-way clutch is freewheeling, the vehicle may suffer from poor acceleration from a stop. On the other hand, if the one-way clutch is locked, the vehicle may exhibit a lack of power at highway speeds
