00 caravan tranny
Its time to do a tranny flush in my caravan before i blow it. My Dodge dealer tells me the tranny fluid is called +4? I have read that if I use GM dextron3 or ford Mercon it will cause problems. Is the +4 a synthitic fluid? I work at a LInc/ Merc dealer and on top of the MErcon we also have a Mercon V that is a synthitic. Is that comperable. also my local carquest has a Mopar + 4 tranny fluid but i dont want to use that. Does anyone know if the Mercon V is compatible to the +4? Pleasse help!!
Im not 100% sure but I dont think the Mercons are recommended for the +4 applications.
I know that Mercon and Mercon V arent compatible. I have a Ford Escape and there was a problem with the dipsticks being marked wrong and people were having tranny troubles with the Mercon V. They recommend only
Mercon for the Escape. The Mopar +4 should be fine. Mopar is Chrysler brand like GM/Ac Delco and Ford/Motorcraft.

Try a local auto parts store like AutoZone or Advance Auto - They're always cheaper than the parts dept. I use ATF+4 in all of my DCX Vehicles. Anything else will tear up the transmission.
