[1st Gen : 84-90]: Grandma's 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan-Parts & Tips for DIY restoring
Dodge CaravanThe Dodge Caravan is the best selling mini van from Dodge. How many Dodge Caravan owners here at DodgeForum.com would agree? Discuss it now!
I need to replace the rocker panels and wheel wells. I am not having luck finding wheel wells or rocker panels for a 1990. I found 1 company that has rocker panels for 3rd gen 96-2000 but nothing earlier.
Any suggestions for companies still selling these parts?
Suggestions on how to clean up the rims?
Thanks
Smaller areas that need replacing, I will use Bondo.
This beautiful van used to be my Grandmothers. It was the first vehicle that she chose, customized, and had in her name. Grandma called the van Ruby, so we all still call the van Ruby. Grandma sold it several years back, and it went through a few more owners, but I was able to buy Ruby to keep it in the family. Unfortunately, Ruby has rusted a lot in the last 2 years, and there is a lot more rust than I thought. My family love Ruby for traveling, and they want us to take Ruby to Chicago next month. Anyway, restoring Ruby is going to be a large project for me, and unfortunately I have a very limited budget, so I will be doing the body repairs & restoration myself. Once I have the rusted areas cut out and replaced, I will just paint the replacement pieces black until I have everything done, including pin striping repaired. Then I will match Ruby's exact paint color. My Grandmother chose the pin stripe design so I have to keep the pin stripe. Eventually I will repair areas that have flaked off, then put a new clear coat on all of Ruby.
