Default Weird problems with 99 Grand Caravan 3.3L base model. Advice is welcomed

I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan automatic 3.3L Base model van. I've only had it since about October last year and the history for repairs from the previous owner is unknown, my FIL and husband bought it for me and honestly should've had it checked before throwing money away. So far it's only been to a shop once. A spark plug wire was fraying so they did a weird splice to it as well as replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses for some unknown reason as well as replaced the PCM, again for some unknown reason. Before going to the shop, the check engine light showed and there wasn't much issues except for a trans fluid leak due to the sealant age on the pan, a bad rigged positive cable, and a list of other things. So far myself I have replaced the alternator, the serpentine belt, and the positive cable. I finished changing the trans filter and fluid as per the manual and once cranked noticed that it was driving in what felt like it was weighed down. Realized it wasn't shifting unless I put my foot to the floor. Decided to run my code reader on it and found p0700 and then had a buddy who owns a shop do the same and he got P1784 for the transmission control system. Through all these issues I also realized after some research that my check engine light no longer was coming on even though it should have been triggered when the alternator went out as well as for the P0700 code. It shows when you just have the van on and all the icons light up initially but then it goes. I'm worried that the shop my FIL took it too may have messed something up when they went against what I had asked them to do and upon its return to me after a month and 2500$ I had to actually go back after thw first day to remind them that they didn't do my fluids yet it was on the ticket (I only let them fill the coolant up because it was bone dry but I told them not to worry about the rest and took care of it myself) I'm not sure how to go about fixing the P1784 code nor fixing the MIL light issue and if anyone has any knowledge on those two and how to go forward I would super appreciate it
