Default Rebar Sticking Out Under Carriage—After Getting Stuck at Beach

2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport

I noticed this rebar-looking stick poking out under my car.

Recently, I got stuck at the beach, sand up to my axels and I had to dig and have people push me out. I’ve been paranoid about my undercarriage ever since then.

My car seems to be fine (except for occasionally not wanting to go into Drive right away, but it gets there), however I really don’t want to take this for granted—especially since I’m driving across country soon.

What is this rebar-looking thing that is sticking out?

In the sunlight, you can see the rebar sticking out.

I have the Haynes manual for your vehicle, which shows an illustration of the front undercarriage. This does not appear to be any component part of your car. Try pulling on it; if it comes out readily, you probably picked it up on the beach. Good luck and stay safe on your upcoming trip!

I took a second look and it’s actually a small hollow pipe of some kind. That’s worrisome..

I took a second look and it’s actually a small hollow pipe that looks like it’s broken. Could this be part of the radiator? I put quite a bit of coolant in my radiator yesterday and I thought, that’s weird where is my radiator fluid going?
