2001 Caravan Power Window
Hi there.
The driver side power window on my 2001 Caravan has stopped working. When trying the switch nothing happens it is completely dead. The window switch for the passenger side works great from both the passenger side and driver side switches. Also the Door lock switch still works and so does the Window vent switch.
Does anybody have any suggestions.

RE: 2001 Caravan Power Window
You're not the only one with a power window problem. My wifes (alias whip)
2001 passenger side window does the same thing once in a while. It acks
like if you have held the button UP to forced the window to be very tight
closed, it won't go back down. Most times it will go back down the next day.
It looks like the brain dead engineers at DC forgot about UP limit switches!
Insted, the motor either burns out or (if you're luckey) overloads and will
come back to life later.
Just another reason when I ordered my 02 Dakota in 02, I wanted "crank up"
style windows.

RE: 2001 Caravan Power Window
I had 2 problems with electric windows
The first ... most commom... the motor stopped working.
Local repair shop wanted $ 250 $300 to replace.
I went to salvage yard and bought hole unit.......
motor, cables, track for $50 and spent a Saturday morning installing.
Not bad at all..you just need to be carefull working near window.
The second problem was the switch on the arm rest.
The internal copper pieces had built up corrosion and
would not make good contact. I removed switch and took apart.
I used nail file to clean connections.
Make sure you blow out dust residue with air
A couple tips I learned from local parts stores.............
ON electrical stuff...always check to see if you have
power to switch then to connection of what ever is not working.
No sense replacing an electrical unit that is fine but
has no power getting to it.
IF you have a digital camera ..or can borrow one,
take pictures of what ever you are taking apart.....
this way you have an image of what you started with .........
REALLY helped me when I replaced window motor.
