Hi, I have a 2008 Grand Caravan with a 3.8l engine. The trans has been clunking for a long time and sometimes it won't shift out of first unless the car is shut off and restarted. Anyway, it looks like one of our kids overheated the engine and blew the head gasket. So rather than fix an engine with a known marginable transmission, I'd rather swap out the entire engine-trans assembly from a newer year. Does anyone know if any newer engine/trans combos would be a direct swap in? And if so are there any caveats with PINs or the ECU? I do have AlfaODB (for Dodges)and a OBD2 reader so I should be able to retrieve and reset PINs.
