Default Crankshaft Pulley Replacement - How Far To Press It In?

When I removed the crankshaft pulley, I neglected to take note of how far it was originally pressed in. I have it pressed in so the crankshaft pulley belt grooves seem to line up with the belt mark on the water pump pulley. Here below is a photo. As you can see, the pulley is not flush with the crankshaft, but it seems far enough in to me. Is it supposed to be flush?

Here's a photo of the rear of the pulley facing the timing cover and crankshaft seal:

Here below shows how the crankshaft pulley belt grooves line up with the belt mark on the water pump pulley:

Should I leave it the way it is?

It should stop if it's gone far enough. I found the grooves on the water pump aren't always reliable. What I tend to do when I'm not sure is put the pulley system back together and the belt (battery unhooked!) the rotate the crankshaft by the bolt clockwise and make sure the belt is feeding parallel with the surrounding pullys. If the belt is at a angle you fudged up somewhere and either need to seat it more or pull out, though the second is unlikely as the crankshaft should stop it from going to deep unless you hulk smashed it.

If it's to hard to crank the shaft by hand, remove all the spark plugs (make sure you know what order the cables go back in)

@Tora Thanks for the reply. I didn't want to Hulk smash it, which is why I stopped. Yes, what you propose is a good idea. I think I'll do that after I get it all put together and see if the belt rotates properly (I'm finishing up a timing chain cover gasket replacement). Thanks for the advice.

After putting the belt on, it rotated fine. I started it up and it's still rotating fine, so it's in far enough.
