New to forum-just bought an 05 Caravan-did I do alright?
looking over this thread, then I KNOW I got a good deal - about a year an a half back, I picked up an 02 GC for my wife for 9k - it had 51k miles but was fully loaded and the seller had had it well detailed - even the engine compartment (no way it would have been that clean other wise). Have been very happy and other than the kids using it a a friggin play ground and trashin the inside - no complaints. Change the oil religously and have had to have rear brakes done. Had a couple a sensors go thet left the air bag light on and the driver window to stop working - 500 at the dealer[:@] - but like I said to my wife - at this price, we got no complaints. Not to hijack anyones thread, but the "Carivan Clunk" - the front end suspension noise - most indies around here all agree - it's the nature of the beast - have had it checked out with every oil change and no worn part have been found - my #1 mechanic has the same van and has rebuilt the front end - in his opinion, it wasn't worth the $$$$ as the noise is still there but just not as noticable. All in all, it was a vehical we needed as we do quite a bit with scouting and the kids friends.
Molsenice,
Yes, you did get a good deal. They're great vans. If you know anyone with the stow and go feature, STAY AWAY. Once you see it in action, you won't be able to live with your 2002.
I had that front end clunk on my 97. I replaced the sway bar links and the center bushing and it went away. You might even get away with a lubing the links and the bushing. I concur with your mechanic. The noise is not indicative of anything dangerous and your front end is not going to fall out. Strange as it may sound, if it doesn't bother you, ignore it.

- Noise doesn't bug me and wife is not complaining so the plan is to keep monitering it - now if I could put a govenor on the darn thing - she has a lead foot
Besides the clunk the front end gives with every bump in the road, the
only other thing I don't like is the cheap paint jobs DC gives the front
and rear so called bumpers.
I can't understand how Insurance companys put up with this... I've
had my rear one re-painted and the first time my wife got tapped
in a Wallie World parking lot, the paint is chipping off already.
What ever happened to *normal* bumpers?
