99 GC with noise underneath
99 Grand Caravan with almost 90k has starting making a noise. Best way to describe it is - sounds like when you run over a stick and it flips up and hits the underneath of car. Notice it mostly when applying brakes when going down a hill.
I had a similar sound a while back, but I had over 200,000 miles on my GC at the time... there are two tie rods on each side of the vehicle inside the front wheel wells that connect the strut to what looks like a sway bar down below. Each tie rod has a ball-and-socket attachment at each end of the tie rod. One of the ***** popped out of the socket and was banging around when I accelerated or decelerated. I replaced the broken one on one side and replaced the other side anyway because I figured since they both do the same thing, it couldn't be far from failing.
Yeah, I have a noise also. It's sort of a rattle/clunking sound. Mine only does it when I'm going over a road that's a little rough. At first, I thought my spare tire was lose, but that checked out to be fine. The noise is still there. It's not getting worst, but I still haven't been able to figure it out. Mine sounds more like it's coming from the back.
