2005 Caravan V6

when I push the set button on the cruise control, the car slows down a few mph and speeds back up to where I set it.

is this normal? when I look at the cable it has alot of slack in it.

My 97 Caravan is the opposite, it speeds up initially then slows down. Same thing with my 91 Spirit. Could be something with the adjujstment of the cruise control cable.
