Default Tranny Fluid Leak

Last summer my wife was driving her 99 Grand Caravan AWD back from a 200 mile trip when the she had a bad leak form. Turns out the over flow or vent pipe from the transaxel fell off. I had a shop repair it (closest dealer is 90 miles away) and clean up the fluid. But the smell persisted of that fluid burning on the exhaust. I found a leak then in the coolant pipes going to the tranny fluid radiator. They simply tightened down the clamps and said that would do it.

Well the leak persisted again and I took it back so they could just replace the hoses. But they said the hoses were in great shape and the clamps were the best you could buy. So they retighten them again (not charging me) and said I should be fine again. Well the burning smell is back although I have not been under to look for leaks.

Anyone had similar problems? Any advice short of a new mechanic? It is a terrible smell! I need to get the van up on a lift for there is not room to crawl under it in the snow!

Thanks, Paul
