Does it matter what sparts plugs I use in my 90 GC? are there certain plugs that are recommended?

 

the size listed on the sticker under your hood and be sure to use champions.

 

i say NGK V-Powers, i've never had a problem with them in any vehicle i put them in, & they are what i run in my van only, moms '00 I got NGK G-powers (platinums) since the van came from the factory with plats, new plats go in!

i've too many problems with champions & they're crap resistors, but to each their own

I was wondering about the NGK G-Powers as I am about to install them in my 99 3.3 Caravan. Replacing the copper Champions that are in there now. How does your mom's van run with them in there? I agree that there are problems with Champions.

 

it runs great! I couldn't be more happier with them, plus the misfires are gone, yay

Do any of you guys have problems getting the the rear bank plugs? I always had problems getting to those

 

Yea they are a problem to get to. Some people like to remove the intake and go over the top, I prefer getting them out from underneath, but my arms are long and thin enough to get to them from below. Following is my procedure for getting out the plugs:

Put it up on car ramps or jack stands, chock the wheels or set parking brake, and let the engine cool. You have to lay on you back under the vehical and reach up the tunnel between the exhaust and the firewall. A pair of locking needle nose pliers is useful to break the plug wire loose from the plug. Use the pliers to grab the boot, then twist the pliers, don't just pull or you can rip the wire apart. Use an air compressor to blow out the dirt from the spark plug hole before removing the plugs. I found a 4 inch piece of tubing on the end of the air nozzle works well to get the air into the hole. You should have a spark plug socket with a rubber grommet inside to hold the plug. A short extension is needed on your ratchet for some of the plugs. Make sure you use anti-seize on the new plug threads and dielectric grease inside of the boots to keep them from sticking if the plugs need replaced again.

If you don't have a spark plug socket, wrap a piece of paper around the spark plug and stick it into your deep well socket when you intstall the new plugs. This will keep the plug from falling out of the socket when you insert it. You almost need to have the plug in the socket to get the threads started. The extra length of the socket gives you just enough reach. If you try to put the plug in with your fingers, it will slip and fall to some place that you can't see and can barely reach.

 

Another trick is to use a piece of rubber hose that fits the ceramic top of a spark plug. You slide it on and use the hose extension to turn the sparky.

 

The underneath method is how I got to them...but I didn't like it, so I was just wondering if there was an easier way...
