I just bought a 2003 3.3 V6 Dodge Caravan. Right now I have a 15 foot pop-up tent trailer (approx 1500lbs) and I don't think it would be much of a problem towing that, but we are thinking of buying a hard top trailer in the future. What are the towing specs on this vehicle? We won't be travelling across the country, but maybe a 2-3 hour trip twice a year.

Would this be too much towing, even if we take it real slow when taking off?

Read the manual. It gives tow ratings. Caravans aren't made to tow, but it's done.

 

well according to the Dodge site (on the 2006 SXT model of the Caravan with the 3.3L) the capacity is 1800lbs.... but the Grand Caravan with the 3.8L and tow prep. can tow up to 3800lbs (supposibly lol)... its always amazed me at how much (Grand) Caravans can pull anyhow...

 

I have a 01 gc and tow a 1600 lb pu. I have the 3.3 as well, but I have modified my gc. I added trailer brakes (a must imo), and airlift to the rear. I probably will add a tranny cooler as well. It tows well, and stops well, but looses power on the hills.

 

I think I will install one of those tranny coolers too. We are looking at an 18 footer trailer right now.
