I have had a knock coming from the passenger side of the van when going over bumps or when the van moves side to side. I found the stabilizer or sway bar to be loose where it connects to the strut assembly (i can remember what the rod type thing that it bolts to is called).

My question is this a common problem with these vans? I have spoken to other people with the same problem exactly and wonder what can be done to fix this from happening again?
I tightened it up again, but i want a more permanant solution?

 

Common problem, replace the end link. And the two bushings that go to the body, they cause the knocking noise.

 

If it's not your sway bar making the clunking noise check out the upper strut bushing.

 

I had a bad bar bushing. I asked the dealer and he said $200 Happens all the time....Funny thing though ...I have been working on cars for years ...my dakota has 160k on it and no problems. Why can't i expedt the same from my 39k vehicle. Notice i no longer have the van.

 

Does anybody have a pic of these bushing? Where on the van are these?

 

The bushings are around the bar. They isolate the bar from the body.
