A/C pump - compressor
Hi all !
1998 3,3L Voyager....with 135700 km (= 85Kmiles !?)
My AC pump is beginning to sound "strange".... !
Is that something that you can rebuilt yourselve ?
I consider my self pretty handy !! and I know that you must empty the system from R134a..... but if there is specialtools involved and such, I think I better use an "external source"...!
Other suggestions ?
PS I think the Chrysler Voyager is a "sh----y" car[:-] with lots of things that have to be repaired....but I have decided that I am going to love it and fix it ! DS

Generally speaking you don't try to rebuild the AC pump as it takes special tools. I just buy a rebuilt pump from a parts dealer or a commercial re-builder on any AC I have had in the past. You need a vacuum pump (can be rented in some locals), a set of AC gauges/with hoses, some cans of R134a and some compressor oil. Usually you want to flush the system and install a new dryer. It's expensive to have done, but some can be done yourself, if you have the tools. You need to take it to an AC shop to have the R134a removed before disassembly, this is by law.
