Default 99 caravan, new owner question

hi. i'm new in this forum.
I just got a 99 dodge caravan
it has a wheelchair lift but I have no need for it, in case someone is interested..
my main question is that I want to know how I can find if my van has a factory alarm system or a keyless entry system.. it came with just the key. but the door locks lock when you start driving...
any one can help me?

To find out if your car has a factory alarm system, you must call Dodge dealer and they will ask you the VIN # and they would tell you.

about the door locks when you starts, you can avoid it. you can find it in the driver manual, how to disconect the automatic door locks.

If you don't find it. Just tell me and I can help you!

Regards!

I have tried many times to disable the locks when taking of,by the manual. No luck. Don't get the disable beep, sound.
What does your manual say out of being interested?

I tried an it works.

1) Close all the doors
2) Turn the key four times between On (without start the enging) and Off ( On-Off, On-Off, On-Off and On-Off)
3) Press the doors lock bottom to lock the door

Everything is done if you hear a single chime.

Try it again!

my 99 locks at 20-25 km/h factory setting(in the owners manual)
with the autostart it locks as soon as you apply the brake after being started the way its been programed
i dont have the anti-theft system
my buddy has a 97 with the anti-theft but his doors lock the same as mine at 20-25 km/h

post a pick of the key or the pad ?
you might have an autostart and not a theft system

this i just tried and it worked for me as well nice little bit of info
disabled the locks then reabled them very cool thanks for this info

I Have tried SEVERAL times to dissable the AutoLock feature on my Grand Voyager SE. I have read the manual... followed the instructions and She still insists on locking the doors. Has anyone had similar problems? FYI - it is a 96 Grand Voyager SE.

YESSSSS! I hate this feature on my wifes van!!!! I dont drive it often (So I forget) and when I do, Im always locked out of any door after leaving the driver door (Which opens without unlocking the car) Have to go back and hit the unlock button (Evert F-in Time!). Just went out and tried the above solve. On-off - On-Off...etc.... Didn't work. Then re-tried... Worked with: Key in... Turn not 1, but 2 clicks (next would turn over motor) then turn back 3 clicks (1 past key out... all the way possible). Repeat 4 times. Hit Lock button down. Get the Chime. After 7 years of Lockdown, thank you for this thread.
