Default 2000 Caravan Smells & Blinking Interior lights

I have a 2000 Gr Caravan sport with 2 issues.

1)For the past year, I have a funky smell (almost like a mildewy AC) smell coming from the defroster whenever I have it on. It does NOT do this with the AC on.
2) I have had a issue with interior blinking lights, ( I have searched the forum), but tonight they would not go OFF, at all. Is there a time delay delay there under the dash that exhibits this problem when it goes?

Finally which manual has the best Electrical prints etc. DO I bother with anthing beside the factory manual?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you may have a cooling problem. When was the last time you flushed your system?

never, when I asked the dearler to do it 2 years ago he said the coolant was good for 7. Is there a reason you think it's the cooling system? I don't smell it when the heat is on. Only under defrost/

Most likely is the ac evaporator that has mildewed. Not uncommon at all and usually won't smell with the ac on for some unknown reason. You could have a bad door ajar switch which is located on the body where the door closes up against.

I have replaced a bad door ajar swicth and will try to test the rest. How do I get rid of the mildew? The condensor was replaced 3 years ago. Does this make a difference?

No the condensor is the one in front of the radiator. You can go to the dealer and pick up some deodorizer for the evaporator. Some auto parts stores carry it you may be able to find it there.
