Newbie here.

Just picked up a 98 Grand Caravan. Seems to have a tranny leak. Being new to Caravans I was wondering if there was a common problem with them. It seems to be coming from the area of the bell housing as it mates to the engine. (3.3 ltr)

Overall we love this van! Its way better than the Windstar we just dumped. Plus its good in the snow. (Michigan weather)

I also own 3 Neons too! So now we are a total Dodge family.

Thanks for any help.

Just got back from the Dealer where I purchased the van.

Just so happens that most of the work is covered under warranty!!!

I will be getting a little over $1000 in repairs for about $165!!

The front pump seal is leaking, so in order to replace the seal they will replace the front pump. The solonoid pack is also leaking, that is the part that will cost me $165. That is mounted external of the tranny, free labor on that install too!

Considering the stupid Windstar (bad tranny too) we just unloaded on the car wholesaler died on him, I feel pretty lucky.

Anything else pops up on it, I will post it.

Got a call to pickup my van today.

I parked the loaner van next to my van in the parking lot. When I got out I noticed that the drivers side door had a huge dent and major scrapes.

Long story short, I get the loaner for another day so they can fix the dents and scratches.

This van didnt even have a small scratch or ding when we bought it.

My wife thinks that the "Van Gods" are mad at us for some reason.

All in all, the van is fixed. Bad pump seals and solonoid are fixed.

Later
