99 Grand Caravan - leaky trans hoses
I have a 99 D C with some tranny leaks. the mechanic said that 4 hoses were leaky - 2 to the tranny and 2 to the radiator. he gave me a 300 replacement estimate and said all 4 needed to be changed at the same time.
does that sound pretty legit? is it hard to change those yourself?
thanks anyone with any info is greatly appreciated. its christmas and I would like to buy my wife and kids some gifts other than tranny repairs.

300 bucks for 10 dollars worth of hose and four clamps
my 99 was leaking at the rad under the plastic cover it was a striped clamp replaced the clamp and its good now
if you have the extra tranny cooler there would be three hose's trans to rad rad to extra cooler then back to the trans
if you did replace the hose's yourself its not that hard
get a repair manual
if you have ever done your air filter then your half way there to replace those tranny line's
you need the air box out of your way

There are only two hoses to replace. One to the radiator and one back. They are rubber and have clamps on them
at each end. I have replaced these ones on a 94 and a 00. Simple job, I believe these are DODGE items only but
they weren't but like 20-30 bucks. Basic hand tools. 300 is a complete ripoff.

There could be three of them if he has the aux trans cooler. most of the time you can just go in and tighten the hose clamps and that fixes the leaks. The rubber hardens over time and the clamps loose their grip on the hoses.
If he has an auxiliary cooler there would have to be four. That cooler is a factory rariety although had I known how bad their trannies are I prob would have gotten one.
