try replacing the egr solinoid if you can
when mine went the egr valve itself was still good but the solinoid went bad
the stealership doesn't sell just the solinoid you gotta buy both $80.cdn

Try RockAuto.com for the egr valve/solenoid. Mazda's right , you need to buy both the valve and solenoid. The valves do build up carbon with age and for the time it takes to do the 2 10mm bolts, i'd change bothThe diaghram in the solenoid deteriorates and loses vacuum and will cause themotor sometimes to run very rough or not want to idle. Until recently it was a dealer only part, but now it is availabe at most auto parts places. I got one a month ago through rockauto for about $70(includes shipping). These are almost as common a failure as the trannies ...lol....
