Default airbag light

I hve a 2001 Caravan SE. THe dealer replaced the seatbelt tensioner when i bought it (in 2005) because the airbag light was acting up. Now the light is acting up again...coming on (with the chimes) for a few seconds on rare occasions when you are driving. Seems to happen most when the vehicle is really cold. I'm pretty much a novice about such things but am wondering how serious a situation it sounds to those of you who DO know about such things.
Could the airbag maybe deploy?????
Thanks for any advice or suggestuions

Default RE: airbag light

Have you looked into a possible clockspring problem?
Its well documented on this site. And usually covered by a special lifetime warrranty.

It's inside the steering column.
These are the symptoms:
Usually the horn and Cruise Control buttons on the steering wheel fail shortly after or before. Along with the airbag light going on and off.
Also the airbag light could remain on longer than 5 seconds when first starting up.

I read the airbag wont deploy if the clockspring is the fault.
But I'm no lawyer, So dont quote me.....

Good Luck.
