If any of you have cared to notice, as I have, the VIN #s on the Challengers DO NOT coincide with their build sequence. It appears as if the process of actually "numbering" them was done "out of order". I just got #2228 of 6400 and the VIN ends 8H290XXX. I saw #46 of 6400 on Ebay and the VIN on that on ends with 8H291XXX. Just a "heads up" for the rest of you car collectors out there such as myself.

 

did they state that it would indeed correspond to the vin?

 

Not that I know of, but would'nt that have made sense? Everybody & their brother is under the assumption that the lower the number on the plaque, the earlier the car was built. How stupid!!

 

now, is there ANY correlation between the plaque and the vin? what alot of people dont keep in mind, is that the VIN is generally based on the overall production to date and not just the production of the particular model. for instance...the 9999th car made by dodge this year will have the 9999 vin, but its if a viper, it wouldnt be the 9999th viper made, just the 9999th model. my guess is that the dash plaque coincides with the build number of the car relative to the other challengers, not relative to the rest of the vehicles, which is how the vin is determined.

 

No correlation whatsoever.

 

so would you say that i may be on track with my idea about the dash plaque correlating to the build number of the challenger relative to other challengers?
