Dealers, the good, the bad...the ugly
So what has your experience been like in your pursuit of the Challenger.
I've found an enormous difference from dealer to dealer, not only in pricing, but also in overall attitude. All things considered, one would think they would be bending over backwards to sell their product. Some are, some deffinately are not.
Decided if and when I buy, it won't be from a dealer within a 50 mile radius of where I live. Everyone of them suck big time, and will probably be some of the first to close when they start thinning the herd.
So where did you buy, and were you happy with the price, and the personel that you dealt with?

Hey, I have bought a lot of cars in my life, so agree completely about there being good and bad. I also did not buy close to home, and since I just bought my Challenger and it has not even been shipped yet, it is a little early for me to have a final opinion.
I bought from Star Dodge in Abilene, TX. My salesman, the internet manager, was very responsive and easy to deal with. Nice guy. As far as price, I bought it at sticker. I tried very hard to get some discount off sticker, but it was clear that they were not going to come off. There was not much I could do about it, since it was THE car I wanted (SRT-8 manual tranny loaded), and I could not find one like it in Florida, eBay Motors, etc. So, all in all, I was OK with paying sticker. So far, very clean transaction. Direct Auto Shippers is picking up the car Monday.
Also, I had no trade-in, and did not finance, so it made it very clean and easy to deal with from that stand point. Had I had those issues, it might have been a real pain to purchase out of state like that.

I decided that I wanted to purchase an SRT8 back in October. No dealer was willing to go below MSRP. I called dealerships in MD, PA and VA. So I decided to go through a buyers club (Something my dad recomneded). The first buyers club I went through gave me a number to a dealership they work with. That dealer still refused to go lower then the MSRP. Telling me that it was impossible to go lower, that they could not go any lower on the Challenger SRT8 (A common response from all the dealer I spoke with). I eventually went through BJ's wholesale buyers club. They work with a Dodge dealer about 50 min from my house. I called employee that works with the buyers club and he had no problem selling me the car at invoice and upgrades close to invoice. They did not have the color I wanted so I had to special order it. Which took three months to arrive (ordered it Oct 9 arrived Jan 6), but I paid invoice for my Challenger SRT8.
3 feet of snow and 45 grand + cdn for a base R/T and the possibling lossing my job in next couple of months killed any desire I had for a Challenger, once the snow melts I be back in Challenger mode, but for now, Its only a car.
Thiers a listing on Ebay for a Challenger 500, a limited production challenger for the Canadian market, Alberta dodge dealer is asking 80 grand cdn for it.

Although my dealer is aweful I paid invoice here is Austin TX. No real issues. I think they are thinking twice about that mark up. If you want one get one because there most likey will not be many more. I bet the whole line gets killed which would be fine with me since I have one. Maybe it will make them valuable in 20 years.....
