Default Dodge Challenger Fan For Now

When the new 09 Dodge Challenger was released, I was thrilled.

When I was a kid, my father owned a Dodge Charger, 1968-69, British Racing Green, Blacktop, stick shift.

That car held so many memories for me, and I was hooked on Dodge ever sense.

At the moment, I cannot afford much. Life has had it's ups and downs, and financially things are pretty squalid. So, for now I daydream. But I was wondering what owners of the new Challenger think of it.

It's been a long time since I have driven a Muscle Car. At the moment I putter around in a 1993 Vulva. It sucks. LOL, but it gets me around I guess.

If somehow I came into the money, I might hop on the Challenger. So, the feedback would be helpful.

As an aside (I hope this does not cause the haters to pounce on me), I was also fantasizing about the VW R20.

I was a fan of the R32, but it was too slow and too heavy. I guess I like speed to a degree.

I saw this post about the Turbo powered, AWD VW R20 Has a pretty cool flash photo thingy with some weird music.

I was considering that too. Not sure, just wanted some input.

I like some the of VWs but I believe the r20 is just a cheaper verision of the Audi A3. You are comparing apples to oranges. I like the fact the R20 will be AWD (since the Audi is). It would need some serious mods to make quicker tho. I agree te R32 was slow, I trompted one with my SRT8 the other day. However the challenger while is good on gas for a 425hp car it couldn't compare to the 30 or so the VW will get. Most likely the R20 will out handle the Challenger, but you can not dispute the cool factor of a muscle car! I absoutly love my SRT8, it is a fantastic car, dodge did this one right. This is coming from a HUGE german car fan, 325is, Z3, M3 and currently have a 330ci. I choose the the challenger over the new M3. 1 because I love how this dodge sounds and runs 2 it was 28k cheaper!! If you are one for attention (come on we all have to admit we like the attention the car draws) I was at a car wash the other day and there was a dude with the new M3 (who braged to me his was faster, which is true) as we were both drying our cars NO ONE walked up to see his car as my Challenger drew a crowd.

Anyway if you are just looking for a second car NOT A DAILY DRIVER get the challenger!!! DD get the VW...IMHO

Thanks for this input.

When I was a kid, like 9 or ten, my father would take us out to this old little league baseball field and we drove the Dodge Charger all over that field, doing donuts on the diamond. He even let me drive! My dad was so cool in that way. Man I loved him. The memories. The drunken fights and puke. Good times. Heheheh Actually, it was a mix of good and bad, but you know I remember the days in that baseball field most vividly of all.

Like you, I love German, but this 09 Challenger takes me back to those days on that baseball field. That Charger was cool. The new Challenger looks and sounds even cooler.

As an aside, about 3 years ago I looked at the new Dodge Chargers. I hated them. The look and feel inside the cars was so cheap. I feared that the same might be true of the Challenger. What are your feelings about the interior.

I have been tempted to go locate a Challenger and take it for a spin, but these are such nice cars that I somehow think that this is beneath the Challenger. When you open a door to get into a Challenger, it had better be to take it home.

Anyway, thanks for this input! Any picks of your ride?

PS: The reasons I mentioned the R32 is because I owned one. I loved it so much. Someone rear ended it and this led to all manner of chaos in my life, which I will not go into here. Ended up selling it, and I really miss it, even though it was underpowered.

The interior is pretty solid. Unfortunatally it is like the Charger, but has a more solid feel. It is really quiet going down the road, much like any Mercedes or BMW. I havent been in a RT or SE but the seats in the SRT are pretty nice. Honestly one of the features I always bring up is the braking, the brembro brakes really can throw ya out of your seat. For some reason this site will not let me post pic no matter how small I make them. Mine is a black SRT8 decal delete 6 speed.
