Engine at WOT by it self ???
The other day my Challenger R/T wouldn't start or turn over, plus the key fob wouldn't come out of the dash. I messed with the fuses & relays, then it started right up & acted normal...
A few hours later, I started it up, and the engine revved to red-line by it self, then came back down to normal before I could shut it off. I took it to Dodge, and they found nothing ??? This is the 2'nd time this has happened...
Anyone have any clue why this happened ?

Bill, ask the dealer to replace your WIN module (for the stuck key) and do a software update on your PCM and recalibrate the ETC. Also they need to look for any debris in your throttle body that may have passed through your air cleaner. (just in case) With no evidence of a malfunction other than your described symptoms, this would be a nice place to start. There are dealers that will blow you off and ones that will take your issues seriously. You need to find one of the later.
The throttle plate angle is controlled by PCM, the throttle body motor and the gas pedal (Position sensor). One of two things happened there. The PCM went berserk, or it recieved a faulty signal from the pedal or bad feedback from the throttle body. The pedals have not been problematic, but PCMs have been. However this is the first i've heard of an RPM issue. Mostly it's just been false DTCs and pcm driver errors.
Since there aren't as many of these type cars out there as opposed to other models, common problems (if this is one) around the country trickle in and take longer to track.

My 09R/T did basically the same thing. I started it up and it idled fine, as soon as I touched the throttle the RPM's started to rise to wide open before I could shut it down.
I restarted it and then it idled fine until I touched the throttle peddel, then it did the same thing. Long story short they said they reflashed the ECM and it never did it again. But I traded it in on a 2010 R/T.

I'm dropping it off at the dealership today. They will keep it for at least a week, since it is intermittent. I'm just worried that it will happen while pulling in to a parking stall. Bummer !
Of coarse, they've never heard of this before !!!

I haven't either, but then that's why I come here and read so I can find out these things. It's impossible for me to see everything even being in a major city. If this was in my stall, being that it's intermittent, it would be getting T-Body, PCM and the Pedal assembly. No point in playing with such a serious issue.
I'm not a proponent of throwing parts at a symptom by any means. However, in this case, due to the nature of it you want to cover every base.

Well, It didn't act up for them, so.... No Parts were replaced... Time to get rid of it... I'm putting in another complaint to Dodge.com ...
I like the car, but I can't take a chance that it will act up in tight quarters and kill someone.
