Default Question about if a button needs to be pressed in the automatic tranny?

Hello, I bought a 2011 Challenger RT, and it is an automatic. The person before me put an aftermarket shift **** on (cue ball).

In my other automatic tranny cars, after pressing the brake, you needed to push a button on the lever and then put it from park to drive.

In this make and model, is it normal to just apply brake pressure and then dump it into drive (no button needed, not even on the stock **** the car came with)?

-thanks,

I also ask because I dont want to put it into reverse by accident either if there is no button......
