Default Low tire light goes on and off

I have a 2010 SE. The low tire light came on last week so I stopped at Discount Tire, they aired up the tire that was low, and after driving for a minute the light turned off. Then this week the light started coming on, then would turn off (sometimes right away, sometimes a couple minutes later). Then it would turn on again and then off again...over and over.

Any thoughts on what could be the issue?

lspringman,

I'm sorry to hear of your tire pressure concern.

Have you manually tested the tire pressure on all 4 tires prior to driving? Does the lamp indicate a particular tire losing air? Does the light come and go regularly now?

Do you install winter tires during the winter months?

Check the tire pressure.

I haven't manually tested yet since it seemed strange that it was going on and off by itself. It's been a few days since it started doing it and so far it's been pretty consistent.

We do not install winter tires. I'm in Texas so our winter is probably only 2 weeks long

You could have a slow leak. First line of defense is to actually check the pressure yourself. If the pressure is good, we can move on from there. Check the pressure and report back.

Is it intermittent or does it blink?

I think that over pressure will light it also. Plus you need to drive the car after adjusting the pressure to get the light to go off.

If it is lit solid, pressure is too high or too low. If it intermittently blinks, then there is an error with a TPMS sensor.
