looking for a good challenger
Hello,
I am from Italy and I will move to California for working there 3 years.
I'd like to buy and american car and I saw many used Challengers between 18000 and 25000 USD.
I would like a V8 HEMI engine not the V6.
So I am looking for R/T or SRT or SRT8.
the R/T would be just fine for me.
I have so many questions:
in Europe we are not used to so big engines.

I have so many questions:
- is the HEMI V8 reliable also at high mileage ?
- at what mileage does nto worth considering to buy it ?
- what are the most known problems or recalls and how to know if a Challenger did all the recalls from Dodge ?
- Driving normally slow, is the fuel consumption acceptable ?
- how expensive is to maintain this V8 car ? I mean yearly or mileage programmed services (oli change, filters and so on) is acceptable ?
- is the R/T model good for any daily use to go back and forth to work ?

If you get an R/T automatic (manual trans didn't get MDS) and keep your foot out of it you should be able to knock down some decent mileage. I have an 06 Charger R/T with a few mods and I can still knock down over 25mpg if I want to. SRT's are of course lots more fun, but for a daily driver I think the R/T works better.
thank you very much for your hints.
I found on craiglist many charger R/T less expensive than challenger and it is a very interesting car.
What about maintenance cost of the R/T models ?
thank you very much!

Challenger has that retro look while the Charger doesn't. So even with the same mileage, etc, the Challenger will almost always cost more. If the maintenance is kept up it isn't bad, it's when repairs are necessary that things get expensive.
