Cold Air Intake

Cold Air Intake
So I just recently bought a 2018 Challenger Gt and was looking at making very few modifications. When I had bought the last few vehicles for my household, I would purchase a k&n air filter just to add better filter quality for the engine and get a small performance upgrade as well. Well after looking at one for my new challenger, I started reading more about the cold air intakes. I have seen several posts on the internet about being a “must have” but have also seen an equal amount saying that it is not worth it or that a factory vehicle is not meant to have one and can cause more harm than good. Seems like a lot of people have gone the route of cold air intake and wanted to get your thoughts.

Personally I have a K&N CAI on both of my Dodge vehicles, a Challenger R/T and a Durango R/T.
But, I also think the IA is less restricted by using the K&N CAI and the air filters are definitely better for the long haul.
Less cost $$ to maintain the air filter by cleaning or replacing.Performance is meager, but it does allow for a better sound.

A cold air intake by itself really won't do much but make the intake noise louder. The reason people say they cause more harm than good is because those idiots usually overoil the damn filter; this can damage the sensor upstream from it. When paired with other modifications like full exhaust, cam, etc it can be a good piece to have.

Have you looked at a more free flowing exhaust? Check out the Borla ATAK exhaust. It will make your GT sound as close to a HellCat as possible and give you better exhaust flow.
