Default SXT or R/T?

OK, right out in front, this is probably a dumb question...but I'm in the market for a Charger in the next couple of weeks and am trying to decide if I should look into an SXT or an R/T

the obvious answer is R/T just because.....but I'm in this more for gas mileage as I'm just plain tired of getting 12 MPG in my Ram, so I'm leaning a little on the SXT side of things for that reason

however, I drove a 3.5L V6 one a few days ago and was decenty impressed with the power and could easily get used to it

though on paper, it looks like there only 1 MPG difference in the 3.5 and the HEMI...would I regret the SXT purchase?

R/T is alot more expensive as well, but with any luck, I'm going to try to find one at the auction with a car dealer buddy of mine and maybe it won't be so much of a price gap for a used one

I know the R/T has alot more features that generally make it a nicer car, but it's not the end of the world if I don't have leather seats and dual exhaust

...and on a side note, I thought the 3.5 I drove was an SXT because that's what the salesman told me and I didn't realize at the time that the larger of the V6 engines is an option on the SE

I liked the car, though it had 8K miles on it and he was acting like he was doing me a favor by dropping it from $24K to 22....when I explained to him on the phone the next day that I can set up the exact package on dodge.com for $22,900, brand new, with the R/T wheels, he was baffled that I would "insult" him by saying that he needed to drop the price of his SE down a few grand if he wanted me to buy it. He thinks I was being a jerk and trying to get him to sell the car and not make any money, but I was just trying to explain to him how retarded it would be for me to buy that one at 22 grand when I could get a brand new one for 900 bucks more - before even trying to negotiate price

what a douche

Mate, buy the R/T for sure! With the MDS you'll get much better mileage than your Ram and not a whole lot less than the SXT and you'll LOVE DA POWAH!!!

I'd also sear you to an R/T, there’s a lot of STXs out that complaining their MPG isn’t much, if any, better than the 5.7 w/MDS.

Go used and you won’t loose any of the cost associated with driving a new one off the lot.

I know where you can get a new black R/T for $25,000 if it's still there.

I just picked up an RT yesterday for $24,500 with 5500 miles and not a scratch. MSRP was 33K with sunroof and Conv 2 package. The car was never titled as the GM of the dealership was driving it as his own on dealer plates. Tires were not bald so I went for it. Good deals exist on slightly used you just got to look. Love the Hemi not sure of the MPG's cause I am still having fun with it.
