Also, for the MDS, at what speed does it kick in/out? I usually cuise around 75 on the freeway, will it be engaged at that speed?

I love my Charger R/T. It has little pitfalls but hey all vehicles do.The gas milage is good for a car this size.It has an awesome ride , nice and smooth. The biggest downfall I have is the daumn wipers, they are no where near fast enough even on high. You get tons of intermitent settings but the fastest speed is like slow on other vehicles. The overall quality is good , fitment is good and the room inside is good.
If I am not mistaking the MDS will kick in most of the time. It kicks in when there is almost a no-load situation , as in cruising. I drive 40 miles to work almost daily at speeds ranging from 45 to 80 and it kicks in.
You will love the power when you hit the go pedal. The Hemi like to run and run it should.
You should however test drive one , the Drive by Wire takes some getting use to, big hesitation when you first push on the pedal.
Always remember... Take care of your car and it will take care of you !!

Power on !!!!!

I'm w/charginscott on this. MDS has been very very good to me You can’t beat the MPG and you still have power.

Here are some pitfalls:
Drone when MDS kicks in. The stock exhaust handles it well but be careful if you go aftermarket there are a lot that drone bad (some don’t mind the drone but I sure did).

Moding if you’re going to pump up the 5.7 to its full potential you’ll end up disabling MDS either mechanically or via software.

I'm with Scott too. I just wanted to add that you don't even feelthe MDSkick in. Not sure about the drone, the stereo is usuallyon 20or higher

I have only had my R/T since Jan 5th but I love this damn car. My mom has rode in it a few times and is now trying to talk my ol' man into getting ride of their 2004 Vett to go with a Charger. I like the MDS, with gas prices on the rise here, around $3.39 a gallon I need all the MPG I can get. I think I can feel when it kicks in and out of MDS, I think there is just a very small tug is the best way I can describe it. I don't know if it's my imagination or what. I am with TopBanana, I hook my iPod up to the Aux port and cruise with the stereo at at least 20, if not 25 on a good song. I hope the speakers last that's all.

well im gonna be cruising on 500 hp at the crank by the end of next week with full mds in.yes you can kill mds depending which mods you go with but ,if you do your homework youll sacrifice a little oh hp and tq....i mean litteraly a little bit youll be able to keep mds.to be honest if your gonna kill mds dont get the rt get the srt youll save money in the long run.the most attractive feature as far as im concerned is you can make better then srt power and have 4 cyl economy when you want it.drone yes it is an issue ,but again do your homework go to some meets and ride in them.i have jba and drone is a slight issue nothing unbearable yet.my brother has the cat back magnaflow nice sound very very very little drone.ive heard guys say corsa exaust is perfect for drone elimination.i really have no complaints.all the bad things i can come up with balances out with the smile i get when im in the car driving around feeling like a little kid again.

I'll go along with charginscott on the fly by wire, it does have a hesitation or lag most noticable when you go from a stop position. There is a throttle calibration that makes that hesitation less but it does not go away completely. I have noticed a few interior problems like center console discoloration, and a few rattles mostly in the sunroof. I could do away with the MDS and ESP myself or rather I wish there was a simple push button way to shut them off. The ESP even though it has a disable button is never completely off unless you do a mod which mayeffect your warranty. I still love my car and plan on keeping it a while and yes I am still smiling.
