Used Superchips need advice
Is there any problems, downfalls, special considerationsor risks involved with getting a used Supertuner over getting new one. Also, I have read a few posts referring to an issue some time ago with the late model 2006 Charger RT having 2007 components, has superchips fixed this with an update? I am not familiar with the use ofa supertunerand am concerned I may have issues with a used one and I am looking for advice.
Yes there can be issueswith a used SuperChips Flashpaq. On the flip side you can get a rotten new one, not often... but it happens. There’s always risk when you’re trying to save money.
Issues you may see:
The previous owner didn't "de tune" their vehicle prior to shipping it.
It may be defective <= it's not often but this could happen w/a new one.
There may be compatibility issues, do your legwork and ask the manufacture.
Ron, the SuperChips guy, may chip in on this thread to enlighten you on 06 models w/07 components.

Sometimes auto manufacturers will will update the computer in their vehicles. If you ever take it to a dealer to have anything done to it they will flash the update if one is available. They don't charge for this so they may not tell you they did it. The problem is if the tuner you want to buy has any update other then the one you have then you are screwed, it won't work. Further, if superchips or the manufacturer puts out any new updates you won't be able to get them. With a new one Superchips will stand behind it and you can get it updated if you need it to have a diferent tune.
I didn't think about the SC updates.
If you get a usedSC is it really stuck in a time warp "roach motel" with whatever version of the SC program that was on it at the time?

I am going for it the price is too good to pass up, I am told the old vehicle it was used on was "detuned" and the seller says I can still get updates for it but I am not really sure how the updating works and why it would matter who is in possession of the tuner. I'll let you know as soon as it comes in. I am not too worried about the dealer doing updates on my ride as I will be doing all the normal wear and tear stuff myself and don't plan on bringing it in unless I am forced too. We'll cross that bridge ( or jump from it) when I get there. I'll let you know if problems arise.
I purchased a used SC and the only thing I had to do was update my car to the latest software. SC is constantly checking and updating their software to keep in step with the manufacturer updates. They also have done custom stuff on the occassion that someone's car is in rare cases a special case. You can update the Magnum and hit the Flashpaq site for SC updates. All you have to do is install the software on your computer and log in. SC will do the rest. Way too cool to not go for it. Make sure the seller has reset their car back to stock using the SC is the only thing you want to be sure is done before purchase. Flashpaq I do believe is now unlocking units because of the second hand sales that are going on.

Good advice on making sure the previous owner had returned his vehicle to stock which I made sure he did, after reading the directions that came withtheSCI now see why that is important. I have not had any problems getting updates or using the SC. Thanks for all the advice it works as it should.
