Default Maintenance

When I got my Charger (5.7 R/T Hemi) the financial advisor gave me this whole story about when I hit 15k miles, 30K miles, 45K miles etc etc I was going to need some kind of special maintenance that was going to cost me 900$ each time and he mentioned all this other little things that was going to cost me a total of 4***$ by the time i had 50K miles, and of course they were offering the whola gap insurance. Was this just one of the dealers little tricks to get me to add more to my monthly payments? Or was this guy for real? Anyone had the same story?

Welcome to the forum!

I never got that story or if I did it just went inone ear and right out the other, selective hearing

You received a maintenance booklet that outlines what & when things shouldget changed, follow it's recommendationsfor your maintenance and you'll be fine.

Hi, and Welcome! I agree with Mango - I was never told anything like this. Check out the packet of material you received when you took delivery. Hopefully, this will clear these things up for ya.

Thanks guys, and I did take a look at the booklet too, I didn't see anything about having a special maintenance done. I'm assuming it was just some b.s story to get me to pay more, when he mentioned all that, my payments shot up about 120$ more a month, yeah right I was going to get that! I'll do just fine without it.

You should have told him to forget selling the car to you because it required too much maintenance and see how fast the story changes. Most new cars need little maintenance these days. Follow the book asmango has said, the financial guy gets a commission on the maintence plans he sells. FYI

I got a story about the maintenance from the finance guy too. He was trying to sell me the extended service plan and like you said, it would have raised my payment a lot. This included oil changes and everything but I do most of my own work so I declined. You could extend the warranty to 100,000 miles, which I did, or three different levels of extended service plans. Just a way for the dealer to make more money.

I bought used and I got the same song and dance. Being I had a check in hand, that had not been filled out, when he started with that I politely asked him.."I have this check, now how much do you really want to sign it over to you". Bingo, he found a way to throw the service and warranty into the deal.
