Default Too bad can't swap V6 gears

Noticed the v6 versions can be had w/ 3:90 rear gears. That would be a sweet combo to the hemi instead of 2:82 or 3:06 deal. My understanding is the computer set up between the two vehicles is significantly different to the point the vehicle would just hit "limp" mode if that, if the swap was done. Got to believe some aftermarket group will figure this one out.

...I'm think ahead to the Challenger which no doubt will have similar gearing as the Charger.

The R/T's have 3.55 gears. the overdrive 5th brings the final drive ratio to 2.88. Someone correct me here but doesn't the SRT8 have the 3.90 rear end. It's been a while since I've look at the specs.

its a shame the way they set it up that its nearly impossible to swap out the gears on the new chargers. stick some 4.10s in there and youll notice one hell of a difference. im guessing the swap could be made but would require a custom tune or something, that the average joe who drives his car to work and likes to have fun on the weekends, wouldnt want to pay for.

Midnight,

Not 3:90 to my knowledge, but could be wrong. Given only Automatic is available, 5th gear(OD) is final drive ratio in my book. Anyway, was just hoping someone knew of some software dudes somewhere that have figured out the computer tuning to make the 3:90 or 4:11 (as mentioned) a possibility...

The only thing I can think of to even make a difference would have to be something to do with stability control. Other wise I see no reason for the gear ratio to make a difference as to the tune. If you don't have the traction control on yours you should be able to get away with it. If so write superchips tech. It should be an easy fix for them.
