Charger vs New Corvette
The SRT is 425hp and 1300lbs heavier to the vettes 430 hp (505 if its the Z06). The Charger does the 1/4 in 14.2, SRT 13.5, Vette 12.5, and Z06 11.5 all this is according to http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html. a full second at 100+ mph is a long way. So to answer your question... an SRT would get spanked even by the slower cheaper $70,000 vette.
but it took a bit for the Charger to start pulling hard and close the gap.
Dave,
When you hit 100, the V-8 cars just start to get their legs. Aerodynamics begin to drag down v-6 and 4's. The V-8's enormous torque beats those "mini-me"'s every time!

You could beat the vetteif you had a 100shot of nitrous. And an SRT-8 with just headers and exhaust would hang very well with the 400HP base vettes cause I have seen a view SRT-8 chargers cracking 12.9's completly stock and one hitting 12.80 with some better rubber.
Dodgeboy,
You did good if you got that close. A new Corvette coupe weighs 3,179 pounds with 400 HP. A ZO6 is worse (to race against): 3,130 LBS at 505 HP. First, you are at least 900 LBS car heavier, and 400+/- with interior weight, so you're about 1,300 LBS total heavier and, then, 50 HP down on power. Even if the Superchips (SC)gives you 13 HP and a K&N gives you 12, it's all mombo-jumbohow it's really measured, so, you're maybe 360-365 HP.Even though the SC gives you much better performancein the midrange breathing/timing and shift points, either the Vette driver was toying with you, or you caught him off guard...
But when you pay $10,000 (base price)more for a Corvette you SHOULD be able to spank a Charger.
I had my 2003 ZO6 Corvette against my 1971 Ply440 GTX a few times and I never gotthat close... and my new Chargeris just asquick as my GTX was (no slicks).
All in all, you did good.
